May Cross Stitch Pattern You’ll Love: A Cozy Spring Sailboat Design

There’s a moment every spring that always catches me a little off guard.

One day, everything still feels quiet and waiting… and the next, the world is moving. Water is running in every direction, the ground softens beneath your feet, and the trees begin to glow with that soft, tender green that feels more like a promise than a colour. It all happens so quickly, and yet, somehow, it feels exactly on time.

That’s what May has felt like here.

In the evenings, I’ve been leaving the window open just enough to hear the water moving beyond the trees. It’s not loud—just a steady, gentle rushing sound that seems to carry on long after everything else has settled. There’s something so calming about it, like the world quietly finding its rhythm again after a long rest.

And maybe that’s why this month’s piece feels the way it does.

Sailing Softly into May

There’s something about a sailboat that feels especially meaningful in a season like this.

It doesn’t rush forward. It doesn’t force its way through the water. Instead, it listens. It adjusts. It moves with the wind, with the tide, with whatever the moment offers. There’s a quiet kind of trust in that—an understanding that you don’t need to control everything to keep moving forward.

That feeling became the heart of this month’s pattern.

A simple sailboat, stitched in soft blues and whites, calm and steady against the open water. It’s one of those pieces that feels gentle in your hands, but carries something deeper with it. A reminder, perhaps, that progress doesn’t always have to be fast or certain. That sometimes, it’s enough to keep going, one small stitch at a time.

I found myself thinking about that a lot as I worked on it. About how often we feel the need to have everything mapped out before we begin… and how rarely life actually works that way.

Sometimes, we’re all just learning to adjust our sails.

A Story Unfolding, One Thread at a Time

This month’s chapter of Stitch the Sea follows that same quiet shift.

Without giving too much away (because I truly love letting you discover it for yourself), this part of Clara’s journey leans into that feeling of uncertainty—the kind that doesn’t arrive all at once, but builds slowly. Like a change in the wind. Like something just beneath the surface that you can feel, even if you can’t quite name it yet.

There’s a storm gathering in the distance… and with it, a deeper sense that not everything can be explained or understood right away.

But alongside that, there are also these incredibly tender moments. Warmth. Stillness. Connection. The kind that remind us that even when things feel uncertain, we’re not navigating them alone.

It’s one of my favourite chapters so far, and it pairs so beautifully with this month’s sailboat pattern—both of them holding that same quiet balance between movement and pause, between not knowing and continuing anyway.

The Rhythm of the Season

If April felt like a gentle beginning, May feels like motion.

Everything is stretching, reaching, unfolding. There’s energy in the air, but it’s not rushed—it’s steady. Purposeful. Alive.

And yet, within all of that movement, I’ve been feeling this pull toward slowness.

Toward carving out small pockets of time to sit, to stitch, to read, to simply be for a little while.

That’s something I wanted this month’s newsletter to hold space for.

Not just inspiration, but permission.

Permission to move gently. To create without urgency. To find your own rhythm within the season, rather than trying to keep up with everything around you.

A Few Cozy Things Waiting Inside

This month’s newsletter is filled with so many little pieces I can’t wait to share with you.

Alongside the sailboat pattern and the newest chapter of Clara’s story, you’ll find a soft spring playlist to stitch by, a fresh collection of reading recommendations for quiet afternoons, and one of my absolute favourite recipes—warm, citrusy morning buns that never seem to last long in our home.

There are also a few gentle hints of something new that’s been quietly taking shape behind the scenes… something I’m so excited to share more about as we move closer to summer. It’s still unfolding, but let’s just say it’s designed to make this cozy, creative world we’ve built together feel even more connected.

An Invitation

If you’ve been feeling that pull lately—the desire to slow down, to make something with your hands, to settle into something calm and meaningful—this month’s edition was created with you in mind.

It’s a space to land. A quiet companion. A gentle reminder that you don’t have to rush your way through this season to be part of it.

You can simply… begin.
