Just Released: A Festive Pattern and Holiday Traditions You’ll Love

A Kitchen Full of Magic

There’s something timeless about baking at Christmas. As the snow falls gently outside and the fire roars in the living room, the kitchen becomes the heart of the home. Growing up, this was where the holiday season truly began for my family. My mom was a remarkable baker, and each December, her kitchen transformed into a wonderland of festive scents and sweet treats.

The air would fill with the warm aromas of cinnamon, cloves, and gingerbread, while trays of cookies cooled on every available surface. Cranberry-studded breads, my grandmother’s melt-in-your-mouth shortbreads, and loaf cakes wrapped in silver foil and ribbon—it was magic, pure and simple. By the time her baking marathon was done, the dining room table would be covered in a bounty of holiday delights, each treat a gift of love waiting to be shared.

The Tradition of Giving

As children, my siblings and I took so much pride in helping my mom prepare her gifts. We’d carefully tie ribbons around her beautifully baked loaf cakes, knowing they were destined for our teachers and the school staff at our little village school. Those gifts weren’t just desserts—they were tokens of appreciation, filled with love and care.

Now, I carry on that tradition with my own children. Every year, we roll up our sleeves and dive into a flurry of flour and frosting, baking together to create our own holiday magic. Our favorite activity is assembling Christmas cookie boxes for friends and family. Each box is filled with a dozen varieties of cookies, from classics like sugar cookies to more adventurous flavors, all wrapped with twine and ribbon to make them as beautiful as they are delicious. It’s a tradition that brings us closer and fills our home with warmth and joy.

A Celebration of Giving: This Month’s Festive Pattern

This sense of generosity and love is what inspired this month’s free festive pattern, Give. The final piece in our Bell Pull series, Give is a tribute to the joy of giving that defines the holiday season. Its delicate vines and flowers, the radiant gold and red centerpiece, and the word Give, stitched in rich green, evoke the beauty of sharing something meaningful with those around us.

As you stitch this pattern, I hope it reminds you of the power of giving—whether it’s through a handmade gift, a heartfelt gesture, or time spent with loved ones. The series as a whole, with its themes of Grow, Gather, Grace, and Give, reflects the values that bring us together and make life so beautifully rich.

Your Turn to Create the Magic

This year, we’re just about to start our holiday baking, and I can already hear the giggles in the kitchen and smell the sweet warmth of the oven. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some of our favorite Christmas cookie recipes on the blog—recipes that hold so many fond memories and stories. I hope they’ll inspire you to start or continue your own holiday baking traditions.

And here’s a little teaser: a Christmas baking cookbook might just make an appearance in my Etsy shop soon! Imagine gifting a collection of treasured recipes or keeping it as a guide to create your own family’s traditions.

The holiday season is about more than just treats or gifts—it’s about the memories we create, the laughter we share, and the love we give. As you stitch Give this month, or perhaps whip up a batch of cookies, I hope you’ll feel the same timeless joy and nostalgia that fills my heart each December.

Happy stitching—and happy baking! Let’s make this season unforgettable.
