As we reach the end of our Calendar Stitch-along, I’m filled with a sense of accomplishment and nostalgia. The pattern for August is the final piece of our year-long journey, and I’m thrilled to share it with you. It’s a design that is especially close to my heart, as it captures the magic of camping—a beloved tradition in my family.

This final pattern features a cozy tent and a crackling campfire, surrounded by tall trees and under a blanket of sparkling stars. It’s a scene that evokes the serenity and joy of camping nights, where the world feels both vast and intimate, and each moment is infused with the simple pleasures of nature.
Family Traditions and Algonquin Adventures
Camping has always been a meaningful part of my life and I wanted to honour that in this pattern for August. Growing up, my family would spend weeks at a time camping, immersing ourselves in the beauty and tranquility of the great outdoors. Now, my husband and I carry on this tradition with our own children, taking them camping every year in Algonquin Park. We’re incredibly fortunate to live in Ontario, Canada, where this stunning National Park offers such rich history and breathtaking landscapes.
Exploring and Discovering New Wonders
Algonquin Park holds a special place in our hearts. We’ve made it our mission to explore all the hiking trails, and each year brings new adventures. We love canoeing on the pristine lakes, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature. This year, we visited the old airfield and were delighted to discover a sea of wild blueberries. To our amazement, we even spotted a black bear munching away in the back corner of the field.
The Joys of Campfire Cooking and Morning Serenity
Cooking over a campfire is one of our favorite activities. There’s something so comforting about the sound and smell of a crackling fire. We cherish the mornings when we wake up to the peace of the mist on the lake, the call of a loon echoing through the stillness. There’s a unique joy in having a hot cup of coffee while resting in a hammock, feeling the gentle sway and listening to the rustling leaves.
