As a parent of four children and an aunt to many nieces and nephews, as well as a close friend to parents of babies, I have always struggled to find baby samplers that I truly love. I have searched extensively online and in various locations to find the ones that stand out to me the most. Below are my top favorites, including some that I have personally made, as well as a few honorable mentions.

1. Fairy Tale Baby by Bobbie G Designs

This was the first cross stitch pattern I ever spotted in a cross stitch specialty store. It caught my eye and I promised myself that if I every had a little one I would make this for them. When the time finally came, it fit my little boy perfectly and I cherish it to this day. Even though he’s not so little anymore, he still loves it just as much as I do. One of the things I adore about it are the vibrant colors and nursery rhyme characters that were a significant part of my childhood. Additionally, I appreciate the intricate details and charm provided by its heavy coverage.

2. Keep Thy Child Birth Announcement by Kooler Designs

One of my favorite patterns, which I did for my daughter, is from Kooler Designs. Their selection of detailed and touching patterns is amazing, making them a great source for anyone looking for a new project. This particular design immediately caught my eye with its intricate details and beautiful lyrics from one of my favorite lullabies. Although it was a big project, it was definitely worth it. The gorgeous colors inspired the color scheme for my daughter’s room even into her teenage years, and it still adorns her wall to this day.

3. Sea Babies by Stoney Creek

Stoney Creek offers a variety of impressive baby samplers, including Sea Babies. Their designs are user-friendly and all necessary supplies and decorations can be acquired directly from them. I enjoyed working on this stunning design for my second son, as it was surprisingly fast and the finished product looks amazing when displayed on his wall.

4. Grace & Love by Stoney Creek

Another selection from the vast library of Stoney Creek designs. This one is so precious, with it’s adorable bunnies and birds and it’s classic pastel colouring, it works well for any baby and colour scheme. I loved that it came together quickly and had a stunning array of specialty stitches and beads that really makes it unique. The pattern comes with excellent instructions for all the stitches so don’t be afraid to give it a go!

5. Barn Babies Birth Announcement by Dimensions

I can’t leave out Dimensions when talking about my favorite patterns. I’ve made several of their designs for my nephews over the years, and I always love how they turn out. The simple yet elegant designs and color schemes make for great gifts. However, don’t be fooled by the apparent simplicity of the designs – they can be quite time-consuming to stitch. Most of their baby samplers have large areas of solid colour. In this design each animal’s area is larger in stitch count than I expected. This made it difficult for me to stay motivated during the stitching process. Nevertheless, the finished products look spectacular when framed, and I have no regrets about making them.
